Brighton Beach Avenue is under the el, end to end
The B and Q run above the avenue for its entire length. Between the columns, the bus stops and the deliveries, there is nowhere on the avenue to raise a flatbed deck and rarely anywhere to stop a truck at all. We take these calls with the wheel-lift, hook from the traffic side, and bring the car out to Neptune Avenue or one of the numbered Brighton streets before anything else happens.
The Belt and Ocean Parkway on a beach day
On a hot weekend the Ocean Parkway exit off the Belt backs up onto the parkway itself, and the service roads fill with circling parkers. A breakdown on that ramp is a lane closure in slow traffic. Call from behind the barrier, give us the direction you were travelling, and we will come to the ramp from Ocean Parkway rather than joining the queue on the Belt.
Salt water and heavy rain
This is a low, coastal neighborhood that flooded badly in Sandy and still pools in a hard rain. A car that has sat in salt water is not a jump-start — do not turn the key. Tell us it was in water and we bring a flatbed, keep it off its wheels, and get it onto a lift where it can be checked before anyone tries to start it.
